What are the senses?

How do they help us?

Senses allow us to observe and understand the world around us.

There are five main ways we can do this: through sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing .

IMAGINE FOR A MOMENT THE FOLLOWING SITUATION...

SIGHT

The first sense is sight. We use our eyes to see different colors, shapes, movements, humans and animals.

TASTE

The second sense is taste. We use our tongue to taste sweet, salty, sour and bitter foods.

SMELL

The third sense is smell. It uses our nose to perceive the smell of flowers, food and bad smells as well.

TOUCH

The fourth sense is touch. this sense uses our skin, fingers, hands and other parts of the body to feel the cold, heat, roughness, softness and hardness of surfaces or things.

HEARING

The fifth sense is hearing. It uses our ears to hear the noises around us such as music, whistles, animal sounds, babiescrying, people laughing and police sirens.
