anticipation

Anticipation is a noun that means a good feeling of hope about what might happen. You might feel great anticipation about the birth of a new brother or sister. I feel anticipation about meeting my new homeroom each year. We may have a sense of anticipation as we start a new piece of fiction. We are thinking about what the characters and setting might be, but especially about the problem and events to resolution.

relax

is a verb that means to become calmer or less tense. You need to relax your muscles after working hard in a sport. After school, you might relax and watch a little bit of television. People sometimes go on trips or vacations to relax. In the story, the family is planning a trip to Maine, which is a state with lots of lakes and forests. They probably want to relax.
