Linking Verbs
A linking verb is used to introduce a fact, to re-identify or to describe its subject.
Be-verbs e.g. The boy is sick.
Non-action verbs e.g. The food smells bad.

An auxiliary verb is a verb that adds functional or grammatical meaning.
