Action Verbs

• Physical activities e.g. drink, jump, hit

• Mental activities e.g. love, hate, wonder

Linking Verbs

• A linking verb is used to introduce a fact, to re-identify or to describe its subject.

  
  

• Be-verbs e.g. The boy is sick.

• Non-action verbs e.g. The food smells bad.

Auxiliary (Helping) Verbs

• An auxiliary verb is a verb that adds functional or grammatical meaning.
