Finding Percents of a Number:Method One

1.Write the percent as a fraction over 100
 $\frac{35}{100}$  
2. Multiply the quantity times the fraction
                           Simplify

 $\frac{35}{100}$   x  $\frac{80}{1}$  =  $\frac{2800}{100}$  = 28

1.Write the percent as a decimal by moving the decimal two places to the left in the percent

2 Multiply the quantity times the decimal
