An Action Verb is a word that shows action.

Action verbs tell what someone or something is doing.

Identify the action verb in a sentence by asking, "What is the person or thing in the sentence doing?"

Chad jumps rope.

Sarah sings a song.

"What is the person or thing doing?"

The magnet pulls the door closed.

The rabbit hops away.

Some action verbs tell about actions that are hard to see.

Maureen enjoys this book about magnets.
