There are 9 groups of 3. So,

 $9\ \times3=27$  

We have seen that 9 x 3 = 27.

Let us recall the multiplication table of 3 to see what happens when we multiply other numbers by 3.

0 x 3 = 0

Multiples of 3 are 3,6, 9,12,15,18,21, 24,27, 30.....

We can see that 9 x 3 is 3 more than 8 x 3.

3 x 2 = 2 x 3

A truck has 6 wheels.

How many wheels do 3 trucks have?

3 x 6 = 6 x 3

= 18

3 groups of 6 wheels.

3 groups of 6 = 6 + 6 + 6

= 6 x 3

=18

3 trucks have 18 wheels.
