So in French we make changes to the verb according to who is speaking, the subject of the verb.

So the verbs is actually, s'appeler and habiter.

What did you notice about the ending of those verbs?

Yes , they end in "er". They are called "er" verbs.

When they end in "er" they are called the infinitive. In English it means : to live, to call myself etc.

Now let's see some examples of other "er" verbs in French.

But what changes do we make ?

  • 1st: We remove the "er".

  • 2nd: We add "e" if the subject is "je" and "es" if the subject is "tu"

  • So that's how we have je m'appelle /J'habite and Tu t'appelles/ Tu habites.
