A verb tells what the subject does or is.

Verb Tenses

• An action verb tells what the subject does, did, or will do.

• An action verb can be done in present tense, past tense, or future tense.

A present-tense action verb tells what is happening now.

My friend calls me.

A past-tense action verb tells what has already happened.

A future-tense action verb tells what will happen in the future.
