PAST PERFECT

The past perfect is used to say that an action or an event happened before another one in the past.

"When Anne arrived at the theatre, her friends had already bought the tickets."

The Past Perfect is also used to talk about something that started in the past and continued up to another point in the past.

STRUCTURES!

Affirmative: pronoun + had + verb in the past participle

Ex: Mom got home at 7 and we had already made dinner.

Negative: pronoun + hadn't + verb in the past participle

Ex: I woke up at 6 and it was clear that it hadn't rained.

Question: Had + pronoun + verb in the past participle + ?

Ex: Had you seen that before? No, I hadn't/Yes, I had.
