Timurid Dynasty:
In 1398 Timur, the founder of Timurid Dynasty, invaded Delhi and as a result, the Indian subcontinental fell again into the trap of fragmentation.
This divided it into Hindu and Muslim states.

The effect of Muslims conquests:
Religions like Buddhism diminished.
The Hindus, people who believed in many gods and built temples and statues, learned to accept the diversity and respect the new religion.

How did Muslims leaders treat non-Muslims?
The Delhi Muslim sultans were famous for their justice and tolerance to the Hindus was pretty fair.
Muslims allowed others to practice their own religion but forced a poll tax on them. The justice forced by muslims leaders helped convert members of the Hindus to Islam.
Hindus of higher ranks converted more into Islam because of their belief that this is the right religion or because they served in the Muslim government.

Sikhism, the new religion:
A new religion known as Sikhism occurred.
One of the Indian religious leaders called Nanak taught his followers two main concepts.
The oneness of God and brotherhood of man.
He also taught them that life should depend on decency and on appreciating spiritual, moral, and social values.

Islam:
Believe in Allah.
Believe in the Holy Qur'an which defines all responsibilities and duties of people.
Believe that all people will die and meet their creator, the only God on the day of judgment.

Sikhism:
Believe in the unity of God.
Believe in Reincarnation.

Hinduism:
Believe in many different gods.
Stress on religious beliefs and traditions in the application of duties.
Believe that people are born to die and are reborn again.

Sikhism:
Memebrs of Sikhism soon joined the fighting armies and became a strong military force who later initiated several clashes with the rules of India.
