Laws of Exponents

There are 6 laws of exponents

#1 Product Law with the same base

Product Rule: a^m ∙ aⁿ = a^m + n, this says that to multiply two exponents with the same base, you keep the base and add the powers.

#2 Quotient Law with the same base

 $2^5\ \div\ 2^2\ =2^{5-2}\ =2^3\ \$  When you subtract the powers put the answer in the numerator or denominator depending on where the higher power was located

 

#3 Exponential Law of Exponents

When raising a base with a power to another power, keep the base the same and multiply the exponents

Ex:- (a^m)ⁿ= a^mn

#4 Product Law with the same exponents

Multiply the bases and keep the same exponent

ex:- a^m x b^m = (ab)^m

#5 Quotient Law with the same exponent

Divide the bases with same same exponent

Ex:- a^m/b^m= (a/b)^m

#6 ZERO LAW OF EXPONENTS

a⁰ = 1, this says that anything raised to the zero power is 1.
