Washington Monument

Built to honor George Washington, who was the first president of the United States. It was the tallest structure in the world between 1884 and 1889, after which it was overtaken by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The White House

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., and has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800. George Washington lived in NY and Philadelphia when he was president.

The Capitol Building

The United States Capitol is a monument, and a working office building. The building we see today is the result of several major periods of construction. It has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended and restored over the years. The Statue of Freedom sits on top of the dome.

This U.S. national memorial was built to honor the 16th president of the United States. Lincoln was president during the Civil War and is best known for his role in freeing the slaves.

The Supreme Court, which is the highest court, in our nation is located in Washington, D.C. The Supreme Court is the The judicial branch and is in charge of deciding the meaning of laws, how to apply them to real situations, and whether a law breaks the rules of the Constitution.
