All About Clauses
An independent clause has a subject, verb, and complete thought.
A subordinate/dependent clause has a subject and verb, but...
Subordinate clauses begin with subordinating conjunctions and relative pronouns.
We use the phrase, "Is it true that..." to determine if something is a phrase or clause, and if a clause is independent or subordinate.
