What GLOs should you demonstrate while listening to the lesson and doing your work?
How can you show these GLOs?
3
Answer
You should demonstrate:
GLO #3: Complex thinker. If you have trouble with something, be a complex thinker and use what you know to figure it out.
GLO #4: Quality producer. When you complete your work, it should be 5th grade quality.
GLO #5: Effective Communicator. When someone is talking, you should listen. When you talk, make sure people can understand what you're saying. When you type, try to type in complete sentences.

What does the word convert mean when we're talking about fractions?
9
Answer
It means to change the form.
For example, if we convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, we are changing a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator, to a number that has a whole number AND a fraction (where the numerator is less than the denominator).

Why do you think it's important to learn about improper fractions?
11
It's important to learn about improper fractions because fractions will not always come out to be "normal." Knowing how to deal with and work with improper fractions will help you whenever you need to do work with improper fractions.

Why do you think we should learn how to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number?
13
Learning how to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number can help you when you need to do the opposite (convert a mixed number into an improper fraction).
It can also help you when you do word problems that require you to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number.

What are some real life situations where you might need to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number?
15
Examples
If a recipe calls for 3/2 cups of sugar and you have trouble with that number, you can convert it to a mixed number (1 1/2 cups of sugar)
If you cut 2 pizzas into 4 slices and ate only one slice, how many slices are left? There would be 7/4 slices left. In order to make 7/4 make more sense, you would convert it into a mixed number (1 3/4).
