Today, we will learn the basics of what migration is - its definition, and the different types of migration.

What IS Migration?
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another; it is a change of where people live. It can be permanent (more than 1 year), or temporary for seasonal work.

Other important points about Migration
The reasons for migration can be economic, social, political or environmental
When someone is deciding to move or not, push factors and pull factors help to make the decision.
Migration can be voluntary (own choice) or forced (HAVE to move)
Migrants who are forced to move are called refugees
An asylum seeker is someone who has fled their home country for fee of harm, and is waiting to see if the new country will allow them to stay
Migration can be within the same country (Internal migration), or to a different country (International migration
