What is a narrative?

A narrative is a story about something personal in your life! It could be a event or trip you went to, a fun memory with a family member or friend, or a story that you really want to tell.

Pick something that is fun for you or that you really want to write about! That will make it easier.

Step 1: Pre-Write

Using the outline from the previous slide, outline what you would like to write about. Tell me your topic, intro, body paragraphs, and conclusion ideas. It is okay once you write if you change your mind!

7

Step 2: First Draft

Using your prepared outline, get all of your information into your brain onto the paper. It is okay to treat your first draft like a free write, spew all the information from your brain to the page.

8

Step 3: Revise Your Draft

Revision is when you go into the story and physically change its structure and parts. This may mean moving facts around to make the story flow better or adding parts you missed. You would use this step to add more to your story or remove some if needed. This is also where you may change your sentences around.
