3 Ways to be an American Citizen
Be born in the U.S. This is called being a "natural born" citizen
Have a parent that is a U.S. citizen. If you are born in a different country but have a parent that is a U.S. citizen you will also will be a U.S. citizen
Go through naturalization. This is the only other way to become a U.S. citizen

Immigration Status
