Multiple Choice
The amount of matter in an object is:
Weight
Matter
Mass
Gravity
3
Mass
The amount of matter in an object
Matter is any substance that has mass and occupies space.
Measured in grams or kilograms
4
Multiple Choice
Weight is:
How much matter an object occupies
The same on Earth and the Moon
The force of gravity acting on an object
5
Weight
The force of gravity acting on an object.
The more MASS you have, the more WEIGHT you have
6
Mass vs. Weight
The mass of an object will never change, but the weight will be different in different places.
7
Multiple Choice
Which has more weight....an apple on Earth or an apple on the moon?
Earth
Moon

9
Multiple Choice
What is gravity?
an attractive force that exists between all objects that have mass
how much space an object occupies
how the universe was formed
a song by Queen
10
Multiple Select
Check off the correct answers.
Small force=small gravitational pull
large mass=large gravitational pull
short distance= string gravitational pull
far distance=weak gravitational pull
11
Multiple Choice
When did the solar system begin to form?
1 billion years ago
4.6 billion years ago
2020...why not
2 million years ago
12
The Formation of the Solar System
Began 4.6 billion years ago as a nebula
Nebula- a floating cloud of gas, ice, and dust
A shock wave from a nearby exploding star, caused the nebula to rotate and condense
As the nebula rotated, gravity pulled bits of gas, dust, and ice into larger clumps which in turn pulled in more gas, dust, and ice
The temperature and pressure was so high, the sun was formed
The rest of the gas, ice, and dust pulled together into clumps and formed the planets and moons
