• Allows British East India Company to Ship Tea Directly to the Colonies.

• Tea would be taxed but the price of the tea went down.

• Smuggled tea was no longer cheaper than British Tea.

• Sons of Liberty dressed as Indians threw 45 tons of tea into Boston Harbor

• Britain is outraged and will pass a series of laws so severe that they are known the Intolerable Act

Port Act Closes The Port of Boston

• Severely Punishes Boston Economically

• Other Colonies will sympathize with them

• Military Government is put in place in Boston and Massachusetts

• Colonists must provide housing for British Soldiers

• Now Colonists may be required to house soldiers in their homes if necessary

Administration of Justice Act

• Governor could move trials out of Massachusetts and even to Britain to ensure a "fair" trial.

Colonists begin to Unite

• Continental or Colonial leaders met in Philadelphia in 1774

• This becomes known as the first Continental Congress
