3
An academic essay writing must have 3 parts;
Part 1: Introduction
1st paragraph is to introduce the topic or title.
It can be a definition or an explanation of the topic or title based on the question.
2nd paragraph, you must state your stand either I agree with ... or I disagree with... or I partly agree with...
Also state your thesis statement.
Then you must state your 3 topic sentences too.
4
Example in introducing the topic or title:
Nowadays, the life in the city is very different compared to the life in the countryside. Basically, the life in the city is full with technology, more futuristic and modern and the life in the countryside is more to traditional and cultural, which its land away from the city. From that, we know that the life in the city is much easier than the countryside. However, there were many problems associated with the life in the city. For example, high risks in pollution, lots of traffic jams, and many more.
5
Referring to the issue that we should slowly give up living in the city and move to countryside, I agree with this above issue because there many complains that stay in city can cause many difficulties. So, here, I would like to present my three major points as to support my stand. Firstly, low risks of pollution. Secondly, low traffic jams issue. Thirdly, make the relationship between family members more closely.
6
*notes:
1.I agree = your stand
2.there many complains that stay in city can cause many difficulties = thesis statement
Firstly, low risks of pollution. Secondly, low traffic jams issue. Thirdly, make the relationship between family members more closely = 3 topic sentences.
7
Part 2: Body (supporting details)
This is the important part of your writing.
Provide all your ideas which consist of your 3 topic sentences which are the main points of each paragraph, and specific / supporting details to support your main points.
8
1st topic sentence (1st main point)
Firstly, the city’s life are in the high risks of pollution especially pollution to the air and also sound pollution. Meanwhile, countryside’s only have a low risk of pollution. For example, small amount of vehicles in the countryside lower the risk for the air pollution there. Not only that, it also prevent from high sound pollution that can disturb the people. In addition, low pollution can make sure that the people, animals and plants in that place live healthy and fresh as the countryside is full with nature and beautiful scenery.
9
2nd topic sentence ( 2nd main point)
As we know, the people that live in the city are normally have to go through the traffic jams especially when they want to go to work and on their route back home from work. So, people will not have to worry and stress about the traffic jams if they move to the countryside as there are no such a large amount of vehicles on the road. As we know, crowded roads not only can waste many times, but it can also make the people become impatient and stressed out. Small amount in the countryside will not only prevent crowded road, but it also will lower the risks for the road accident.
10
3rd topic sentence (3rd main point)
Lastly, living in the countryside can make the relationship between family members growing even stronger. Normally, the internet access in the countryside is low and limited. So, people will not just spend their time on their gadgets. Then, they can use that time to spend it with their family members. Not only that, they can also learn and watch such a new thing that they cannot do in the city. For example like fishing, swimming in the river, hiking, planting, and many more. If the relationship between family members is strong, it will make sure everyone lives in smile and happiness.
11
Part 3: Conclusion
Sum up your discussion / summary of points.
Restate your thesis statement/ opinion/ stand.
12
Conclusion
In conclusion, even though the city is mainly headquarter for many things. But, at first, it also “countryside” back then. Only the technologies that make it become “city”. Personally saying, for me life in countryside is the best because there are variety of nature that still exists and is not destroyed compared to city.
