Past Simple

• Czynność przeszła w zamkniętym przedziale czasu (często z określeniem czasu jej trwania) : I went to the cinema yesterday.

• Równorzędne lub następujące po sobie wydarzenia przeszłe, z których jedno może być skutkiem drugiego – She put on her clothes, took her bag and left the house.

• Przeszły nawyk lub stan– He walked to work every day.

Past Continuous

• Prezentacja tła akcji (opowiadanie) – The sun was shining.

Past Perfect

• Podmiot + had + III forma czasownika + reszta zdania

  The party + had already + finished + when I got there.

  (Impreza już się skończyła kiedy tam dotarłam.)
