The Akkadian Empire

• Sargon of Akkad built the first empire known as the Akkadian Empire

• Took control of northern and southern Mesopotamia in about 2350 B.C.

• Empire spanned from the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf

The Akkadian Empire Falls

• The Akkadian Empire eventual crumbled in about 2150 B.C.
