When do we use RACE to answer questions?

  • Any time we are asked to support our answer with evidence.

  • When a question says constructed response question.

  • To completely answer a reading question.

Restate the question being asked.


If the question has multiple parts, create a new sentence to respond to each part. Restate at the beginning of each sentence.


Example question: What is evaporation and what step comes next in the water cycle?

Answer: Evaporation is ... The next step in the water cycle is ...

Evaporation is when water changes into the gas state of matter and floats away. The next step in the water cycle is condensation where clouds are formed by gaseous water molecules sticking together.
