Interrogative pronouns are used to ask questions whose answers are nouns. They introduce interrogative sentences.

• The interrogative pronouns are who, whom, whose, what, and which.

Who refers to people. It is often the subject of the sentence.

Whom also refers to people. It is the object of the verb or the preposition.

• Ex. To whom were you speaking?

Whose is used when asking about possession.

• Ex. Whose side are you on?

What is used to ask for specific information about something when the answer is open.

• Ex. What did you have for lunch?

Which is used to ask for specific information about something or someone when the answer is limited or restricted.
