Division is the opposite of multiplication.
If we are given the multiplication problem:
2⋅6 = 12we can write a division problem two ways:
12÷6 =2 or 12÷2 = 6
3
Dividing Integers - Think about this!
You just got paid $18 dollars for babysitting for 3 hours. How much did you get paid per hour?
4
Multiple Select
Write the multiplication sentence as a division sentence. Select all answer choices that are correct.
8÷4 = 2
−8÷(−4) = 2
(−8)÷2 = −4
−4÷−8 = 2
5
Multiple Select
Write the multiplication sentence as a division sentence. Select all answer choices that are correct.
−15÷(−5) = 3
−15÷5 = −3
(−15)÷ 3= 5
(−15)÷(−3) = 5
6
Division Notation
We might see a division problem written a couple different ways
−25÷(−5)
the fraction bar −5−25
