Understanding Addition

2
What is Addition?
Addition is when you add 2 or more numbers to find the sum or total of those numbers
Example:
10+5=15
3
Rules to Addition
When you add two numbers to find the Sum or Total, you must always start in the One's Place.
If the Sum is more then one digit, leave the last digit at the bottom of the column and carry the first digit to the top of the next column.
Once you move on to adding in the Ten's Place and so on, you must remember to add the digit that you carried over
4
Addition In Word Problems
When it comes to word problems you have to be able to understand keywords, in order to know what kind of word problem it is
Some commonly used words used for addition problems are: Add, Sum, Plus, Increase, Total, In All, More

Example of Addition Word Problems Continued
So by using the information in the word problem. The fact that Lucy brought 15 packs of cookies and 16 packs of noodles. Also knowing that we have to figure out how much she brought in all.
The Equation should look like this
15+16=So the next step would be to solve the Equation in order to find the Sum or Total of these numbers

Example of Addition Word Problems Continued
So now that we have are answer there is still one final step we must do
