• Exposition - Characters, setting, situation, etc. is introduced

• Rising Action - Events that build tension leading to the climax

  • Conflict usually begins and becomes complicated in the rising action

• Climax - the turning point of the conflict; the highest point of tension in the story

• Falling Action - the events following the climax and leading to the resolution

• Resolution - how the conflict is solved (or not solved); the state of things at the end of the story
