Today, we will talk about countable and uncountable nouns, but first, let's see how good your knowledge of irregular plural forms is.

Countable or uncountable?

countable nouns can be counted, we can say one, two, three + countable noun, so they have a plural form (as well as singular)

uncountable nouns cannot be counted, they are treated as a whole, we cannot say one, two, three + uncountable noun, so they only have a singular form

always plural nouns

we also have nouns in English that are always plural, so they don't have singular form

nouns plus verbs

• countable nouns can go with both singular and plural verbs depending whether we want to use singular or plural, a city is... / cities are ...

• uncountable nouns can only go with singular nouns

• always plural nouns can only go with plural verbs
