• A linking verb does not show action. 



  • It links, or connects, the subject to a noun or an adjective(describing word) in the predicate.



  • My dog is smelly.

• Linking verbs are usually forms of be

(am, is, are, was, and were).

Other linking verbs include look, seem, appear, become, feel, grow, smell, and taste.
