Direct Object / Objeto Directo

• Follow the verb of the sentence / Sigue el verbo de la oración

• Answer the questions: Who? What? / Responde las preguntas: ¿Quién? ¿Qué?

• Can not be part of the prepositional phrase / No puede ser parte de la frase preposicional

• Example: During Thanksgiving, the man ate cake.

• Subject (Sujeto) : the man

• Predicate (verb)/Predicado (verbo): ate

• Object (objeto): (what did he eat?): cake

Indirect Object / Objeto INDirecto

• Must have a direct object to have an indirect object / Debe tener un objeto directo para tener un objeto indirecto

• Answer the questions: to who? to what? / Responde las preguntas: ¿a quién? ¿a qué?

• Can not be part of the prepositional phrase / No puede ser parte de la frase preposicional

• Example: The boss offered Lisa a job. 

• Subject (Sujeto) : boss

• Predicate (verb)/Predicado (verbo): offered

• Direct Object (objeto directo): (what did he offer?): job

  Indirect Object (objeto indirecto): (to who did he offer it?): Lisa
