In the 1800s,pioneers headed to the west on long journeys with there wagons,and horses

Valley Forge

A military encampment for the Continental Army underneath the leadership of

General George Washington. The army endured harsh winters with difficult conditions of

having little food, shortages of warm clothes and medicine for sickness. Washington led them

through the difficult times with his great leadership skills.

Congress:***

The compromise of the 2-Chambers of Congress helped guarantee the ratification of

the U.S. Constitution providing a plan for representation of both large and small states.

Christopher Columbus purpose of expedition:***

• The explorer Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he stumbled upon the Americas.

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton:

The first political parties in the United States were

established in the 1790s largely because of political differences between these two founding

fathers.

The Proclamation of 1763:

The proclamation stated that colonists could not settle beyond the

Appalachian Mountains.

Transatlantic Slave Trade-

A major reason for the flow of the transatlantic slave trade shown

on the map was due to the economic demands of the plantation system

the Catholics immigrated to the Maryland colony

in the 17th century to escape from religious persecution.

Era of Good Feeling-***

A period in the United States that reflected a sense of

national purpose and a desire for unity among Americans in the aftermath of the

War of 1812. There was a renewed sense of nationalism.

The Monroe Doctrine-***

A U.S. policy that proclaimed that further colonization of

the Americas by European countries is prohibited.
