We use 100% to mean ‘everything’ – the total amount. 

To find 50%, halve the amount OR divide the amount by 2.

50% of £88 = £44

What was the price of the jeans in the sale?  

10% of £50 = £5

30% of £50 = 3×"£5"= £15

                  =  £50 -  £15  =  £35
