How to calculate Acceleration:
Acceleration (meters/second2) =

*Note: A change in velocity = final velocity - initial velocity

Positive Acceleration
Example: An airplane takes off...
a=vf-vi/t = (80m/s - 0m/s)/20s
a=4m/s2
The plane is speeding up so the acceleration is positive

Negative Acceleration
Example: A bike comes to a stop
a= (vf-vi)/t = (0m/s - 3m/s)/2s
a= -1.5m/s2
The bike is slowing down so acceleration is negative
