Where to we use articles définis

  • Definite articles are used to describe something specific.

  • {E.g.} J'ai les yeux noirs

  • To express likes and dislikes with verbs like

  • * Aimer

  • *Adorer

  • * Détester

  • * Préférer

  • With the days of the week , seasons , newspaper and languages

  • {E.G.} {a} Je ne vais pas à l' école le dimanche

  • {b} J'aime l' été

  • With the names of countries , mountains,lakes , continents

  • {E.G.} L' Inde s'appelle aussi ' Bharat/ Hindustant'.

  • Du {some}- Used before masculine singular noun

  • Dela {some}- Used before feminine singular noun

  • Del' {some} - Used before vowel

  • Des {some} - Used before plural noun


  • The partitif articles are used with unknown quantity of something specially with liquid and food items & it is also used with sentiments or quanlity of a person

Where do we use articles partitifs

  • { E.G.} Je mange de la salade

  • Il a du courage

  • In negative expressions, the partitif article changes to "de/d' "

  • {E.G.} {a} Je ne mange pas de salade

  • {b} Je ne bois pas d'eau .

Where do we use article partitif

  • With adverbs of quantity , the partitive article is usually reduced to "de/d' ".

  • {E.G. } Il mange beacoup de chocolats

  • With the verbs " aimer" , "adorer" , "détester" and " préférer " definite articles is used in place of partitive article in both affirmative & negative sentences.

  • While doing partitive articles if the sentence begin with noun, then also definite , article is used

  • {E.G.} le pain est doré.

  • Il aime le chocolat
