  1. It is an expectation that students check their email daily so that they can benefit from these email communications. Failure to do so may cause kiddos to miss reminders.

  2. It's also a great habit as quizizz and khan send emails about assignments to students as extra reminders as well.

You need to come in during lunch or after school (after confirming an appointment time with me) to make up the test. Tests and quizzes will be marked as missing (which will hurt your grade) until you turn them in.

  • The purpose of doing this is to make sure you know you are missing a test/quiz and how it affects your grade rather than being blindsided by a later 0.

A small change this semester

These are an accountability measure for students and are designed to reward keeping complete and organized notes.

  • Worth 15 class work points (AKA the same as 3-5 small class work assignments or 1.5 regular sized classwork assignments)

  • Going to happen 1 to 2 times per month

Speaking of notebook checks:

Recall our supply list!

Students are required to have a 3 ring binder for our class with graph paper

OR

A full size (8.5x11, 3-subject, notebook) devoted solely to Algebra is also is an acceptable replacement

We will have printed notes sometimes: you will want the above supplies, specifically so you can put hole punched notes directly in your binder. It also allows things to stay organized and in order in order to ensure success on notebook checks.

media

Multiple Choice

Should you include warm-ups in your notes and write them in your notes?

1

No; they are a warm up

2

Yes; you should because warm up questions are now part of notes and will be included in notebook checks.

31

In order to keep up with and master the curriculum, students must do their homework on time. However, late work will be accepted with reduced credit. Students must turn in late work within 5 school days of the original assignment due date to receive credit.

  1. Assignments that are turned in late will be accepted for up to 70% of the original credit.

  2. Students must fill out a late work form and turn in late work to the appropriate bin in class for all late or excused absence assignments.

  3. Students who submit digital work late must supplement this by sending an email

Keep in mind that Khan Academy and quizizz do not notify Miss J of late work and they are not linked to Infinite Campus in anyway. If you want late-work graded, you must submit an email. Late work completed online will not be graded unless you notify Miss J via email

33

1

Yes

2

NO :_:

34

Don't forget: You don't need to turn in an online form or email for in-person/paper late work, such as an exit ticket or old classwork. I know it's there because it is in the bucket.

The late work goes in a black bucket in the back of the room. You must fill out a late-work half sheet, staple it to your late assignment, and then submit it to the late work bin on the table in the back of the room

35

For a student to retake an assessment, the student must :

  • demonstrate readiness to retake the assessment by filling out a corrections sheet (available in class) based on what they missed on their previous quiz. They must fill out the sheet completely and correctly. A student needs 100% on a test correction before they are able to retake their test.

    • Coming to tutoring is highly encouraged so students do not make the same errors on corrections.

    • Students may also be asked to demonstrate readiness by walking Miss Johnson through a couple problems themselves, when appropriate.

    • Please keep in mind correction sheets are not for points: they are just your ticket to the actual retake. Whatever score a student earns on their retake replaces the previous score on the assessment.

  • work with the teacher to schedule a time to retake the assessment at a time that will best meet the needs of both the teacher and student,

  • retake of assessments will not be permitted outside the grading period it was first given. Please note, retakes of midterm and final exams are not allowed.
