Writing Percent as a Decimal

• Since percentages are out of 100%, it is easy to write percentages as decimals

• Simply divide the percent by 100

• Ex)    57% =  $\frac{57}{100}$   = 0.57
  

• Note the number of place values the decimal moves.

Writing Decimal as a Percent

• Multiply the decimal number by 100

• Ex: 0.37 x 100 = 37%

• Be sure to label with %

• Note the number of place values the decimal moved (and which way!)
