2. Always use a FANBOY (for, and, nor, but, or, yet) to connect the clauses

3. Always has a comma

COMPLEX Sentences

1. Has one independent clause and at least one dependent clause

2. Always has a dependent marker word (subordinating conjunction)

3. Only has a comma when the dependent clause comes first

Because Jason was tired, he went to bed early.

Jason went to bed early because he was tired.
