A few things to keep in mind before we start practicing.
Increasing= getting bigger = Multiplication or Adding
Decreasing = getting smaller = Subtracting or Dividing
4
Steps
You are looking for the rule which goes in the blank. First, we look at the truck side and then the Cars side. We notice that the numbers are increasing so that means it can either be adding or multiplying. Lets try adding: 12 plus 6 = 18, 15 plus 6 = 21 so 23 plus 6 has to be 29. The answer in the blank will be: +6

Steps
You are looking for the rule which goes in the blank. First, we look at the steak side and then the Chicken side. We notice that the numbers are decreasing so that means it can either be subtraction or division. Lets try subtraction: 32 minus 5 = 27, 38 minus 5 = 33 so 44 minus 5 has to be 39. The answer in the blank will be: - 5 since they all worked.

Steps
First, we look at the phillips side and then the Flathead side. We notice that the numbers are increasing so that means it can either be adding or multiplication. Lets try addition: 2 plus 16 = 18, 4 plus 16 = 20 so that means it cannot be adding because it was supposed to equal 36. Next, we try multiplication. so 2 times 9=18, 4 times 9=36 so 8 times 9 has to be 72. The answer in the blank will be: x9 since they all worked.

Steps
First, we look at the soft side and then the hard side. We notice that the numbers are decreasing so that means it can either be subtracting or dividing. Lets try subtraction: 54 minus 48 = 54, 63 minus 48 = 15 so that means it cannot be minus because it was supposed to equal 7. Next, we try division. so 54 ÷ 9=6, 63 ÷ 9=7 so 81 ÷ 9 has to be 9. The answer in the blank will be: ÷ 9 since they all worked.

But the chart can also look different.
In this case, you first look at the numbers on the top (L) and then the bottom (M). We notice that the numbers are increasing. It can only be adding or multiplying. Lets try adding. 4 + 28=32, 6 + 28=34. WRONG. Lets try Multiplication. 4 x 8= 32, 6 x 8= 48, so 9 x 8 = 72. The rule is x 8
