Sentence Constructions

Tips and Techniques on Answering the Questions

1) Read the questions thoroughly. The questions are usually in Wh- questions form.

What (object or action)

• What did his father give him on his birthday? His father gave him a bicycle.

• What was he doing? He was singing.

Who (person)

• Who was the girl talking to? She was talking to a man

Whose (posession)

• Whose father passed away in an accident? Ahmad's father passed away in an accident.

Why (reason)

• Why are the men here? They are here to see the manager.

When (time or date)

• When did she leave the house? She left the house at dawn.

Which (specific person, choice or preference)

• Which bag did the boy take? The read bag.

Where (place)

• Where were the boys last night? They were at their grandmother's house.

How (amount or the way something is done)

• How much does the bag cost? It costs RM100.

• How did the boys go to school yesterday? They went by bus.

2) Look at the pictures given and look for the main ideas.

3) Answer the question using correct tenses. A story is usually written in the past tense form.

4) Try to add interesting detail based on the pictures.

5) Write in three paragraphs - introduction, body and conclusion.
