Simple Present/Past, Present/Past Progressive, & Future

Simple Present
Used for every day, habitual events
Used for facts, information that is generally true
Add -s or -es for she/he/it (she walk+s / it fli-es)
do/does, have/has, is/are
Negative form = do/does + not + base form verb ("she does not walk" or she doesn't walk")

Simple Present: Questions
Questions = do/does + subject + base form verb (do you surf?)
'Be' Questions = is/are + subject + base form verb (Is she nice?)
Wh Questions = wh word + do/does/is/are + base form verb (When do you wake up?)

Open Ended
Write a sentence using simple present tense to show a habitual activity that you do or to show a fact about yourself.

Simple Past
Used for events from yesterday, last week, last month, etc.; any point in the past
Used for events actions that ended in a specific time in the past (no longer true or occuring)
Past verbs can be regular and irregular
Regular past verbs finish in "-ed" (jump-jumped)
Irregular past verbs don't follow that rule (eat / ate; teach / taught)
Negative Form = did + not + base verb form (she did not come)

Present Progressive (Continuous)
Used for actions that are happening right now, at this moment
Some verbs cannot be progressive because they are not active ("she believes" NOT "she is believing")
Add present be verb + -ing ("She is walking")
Negative form = is/are/do/does + not = base form verb (She is not walking)

'Be' Questions = is/are + subject + -ing (Are you going to school?)
Wh Questions = wh word + is/are + -ing (What is he doing right now?)

Past Progressive (Continuous)
Used for actions that were in action for a period of time in the past
Theses actions started, continued, and finished in the past
Add past be verb + -ing ("She was walking")
Negative form = was / were + not + -ing (She was not walking)

Future
Used for actions that have not happened yet, but will happen tomorrow, next week, next year etc.
Add will + base form verb ("He will go to school soon")
Add am/is/are + going to + base form verb ("We are going to go to school soon")
Negative form 1 = will + not + base form verb (he will not work)
Negative form 2 = is/are + not + going to + base form verb (he is not going to work tomorrow)

Future: Questions
'Yes/No' Questions = will + subject + base form verb (Will he travel to Korea next year?)
Wh Questions = wh word + will + base form verb (When will he travel to Korea?)
Be going to Questions = is/are + subject + going to + base form verb (Are you going to travel to Korea?)
