Teacher's research question...
This week we are answering the guiding research question: Where can lions be found in the wild? I'll show you how I paraphrase information as I take notes to answer the question.
5
Information from my source...
“At one time, lions could be found in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Now they are mostly limited to areas south of the Sahara Desert in Africa. Their habitat is shrinking because of poachers and the encroachment of human development. Many people think lions live in the jungle, but actually they prefer grasslands, savannas, and open woodlands.”

Here's what I notice...
This page has important information that addresses my guiding question. To paraphrase the information, I could say that most lions live in open areas such as grasslands, savannas, and open woodlands in the southern half of Africa. I just put the author's words into my own words. As I take notes, I will paraphrase, or use my words, not the author's.
