A list of important words and their defininitions found at the end of the text.

Index

An alphabetical list of topics found in the text located at the end of the book that tells the page numbers in the book where the topics can be found.

Table of contents

A list of each chapter in the book and the page number it starts on.

Illustration/Photo

An artist drawing or camera picture that shows something that the text looks like.

Caption

Words underneath or beside an illustration or picture that explain what it is about.

Diagram

A drawing or picture that shows the parts of something or explains how it works. (usually has labels).

Map

A small picture of an area that helps the reader understand where something is located .
