What is TSI Assessment?
It is the Texas Success Initiative and it assess students in reading, mathematics, and writing skills.
It was created to evaluate a students' readiness for high-level coursework and identify areas of additional support.

When should I take TSI?
It is best before enrolling into any college-level courses
and you must take the TSI Pre- Assessment Activity

Can I be exempt from TSI?
YES!! By meeting the following:
ACT Composite score of 23 or higher (19+ in Math and 19+ in English
SAT score of 530 (Math), 480 on Evidence Based Reading and Writing
STAAR score of Level 2 English and Math

Can I be partially exempt from TSI?
You can be partially exempt if you meet the criteria for one of the areas, so you may not need to take all sections of the TSI.

TSI Math section
20 MC questions which test: Elem Algebra and Functions, Intermediate Algebra and Functions, Geometry and Measurement, and Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability.

TSI Reading Section
24 MC
four sections: Literary Analysis, Main Idea and Supporting Details, Inferences in a Text or Texts and Author's Use of Language.

TSI Writing Section and Essay
20 MC questions which cover Essay Revision, Agreement, Sentence Structure, and Sentence Logic
develop a well -written 5 paragraph persuasive essay on a specific topic

Should I answer every question?
Yes, there is no penalty for guessing

How is the test scored?
scores are based on the number of questions you answer correctly

Math college readiness is determined by a score within the range of 350-390
Reading college readiness is determined by a score within the range of 351-390
Writing college readiness is determined by a score of 4 and MC within the range of 340-390
