William and Viking Harald are Mad

They both claim the throne is rightfully theirs and declare war on Harold Godwinson.

William tries to Invade

-The wind is against him

-It stays that way for months

-He tries to invade anyway

-His ships are pushed back into the shore and a handful of his ships and men are lost

-So he chills and waits for the winds to change

The Vikings Attack First

-While his army is resting, Harold Godwinson shows up and attacks immediately

-Harald H. isn't prepared for battle

The Battle of Stamford Bridge

-The English needed to get past a bridge to attack.

-Allegedly, one berserker viking held off the entire English army long enough for the Vikings to get ready.

-He's eventually killed by a guy in a barrel under the bridge with a spear.

Harald actually loses the battle

-He is killed in the battle and his claims to the throne die with him.

-Bronze Medal

-This leaves Harold and William

The Winds Change!

-William finally invades

-Harold is forced to return back to London and then back to south England to fight William just days after defeating Harald

-William burns down villages near Pevensey
