What is PEMDAS?

• PEMDAS is an acronym that helps us solve expressions using order of operations.

• Order of operations tells us the steps it takes to solve an expression.

• For example: 2 + 5 - (6+1) x 2

Examples for solving left to right

 $12\div3\times4$  

• Solve  $12\div3$  FIRST ; NOT  $3\times4$  

• Wrong way:  $12\div12=1$  

• Correct way:  $4\times4=16$
