Biologists define an acquired characteristics that have developed in the course of life in response to an external change in the environment.

An example is a giraffe seeking to browse higher and higher to reach the branches

Birds that need to rest on water while searching for food, spread out their feet when they wish to swim. Their skin becomes accustomed to being stretched.

A child is a blend of the parents traits, like if mom is red and dad is blue, then child is purple.
