by Helen Paulson

2

Liza needed a warm winter cap. Her mother took her to the hat shop.

"Here's a nice cap," her mother said. It was white with pink flowers. Liza put it on. She didn't like it.

She tried a striped cap. No, it made her look silly. Then Liza put on a fuzzy brown cap. She looked in the mirror. There was a brown bear with Liza's face!

"It makes me look like a bear!" Liza laughed.

"I'm afraid so," her mother said. "Let's see what else they have." She went on looking at caps.

But a little girl walked up. "Hello, brown bear," she said. Liza smiled.

A small boy asked, "Do you dance, bear?" Liza did a dance step for him.

A woman came by with her baby. "Teddy bear!" cried the baby. Liza waved.

"I'd like this cap, please," Liza said to her mother. So they bought it. And Liza was the happiest bear on her street.
