• By the end of the unit, students should be able to identify the defined characteristics of a computer and how it is used to solve information problems.

• They should be able to use a structured problem solving process to address problems and design solutions that used computing technology.

Problem Solving - the process of finding solutions to difficult or complex issues

Four steps in the problem solving process

4. Reflect

Define - understanding the problem, examining available resources, and determing current flaws in the design.

Prepare

Discussing with team members how to proceed, brainstorming approaches, anticipating possible flaws.

Try

Building or putting your plan into action.

Reflecting - examining the results of test, comparing results to predictions, and discussing with others.
