Apostrophe Use in Possessive Nouns

Add -s to a singular noun to make it possessive.

When a plural noun ends with -s, add an apostrophe to make it possessive.

When a plural noun does not end in -s, add -'s to make it possessive.

• The rabbit's ears twitched. (Singular Possessive)

• We could see the foxes' tails. (Plural Possessive)

• The fish's fins are blue. (Singular Possessive)

• The women's tennis team is playing today. (Plural Possessive)
