Today I am going to tell you all about Prepostitions.

DEFINITION OF PREPOSITIONS :

• The definition of a preposition is a word or phrase that connects a noun or pronoun to a verb or adjective in a sentence.

• An example of prepositions is the word " with " in the following : " I am going with her " .

PREPOSITIONS OF TIME

The prepositions that are used to denote the time are known to be the preposition of time.

Prepositions of place

These prepositions shows WHERE something HAPPENS .

Examples : on, at, in, by, from, to, towards, up, down, across, between, among, through, in front of, behind,above, over, under, below, etc.

Prepositions of movement

These prepositions are used to show the movement of something or somebody.

Examples:

TO, FROM, INTO, OUT OF, THROUGH, ACROSS,BESIDE, IN FRONT OF, BEHIND, TOWARDS, BY, UP,DOWN, BETWEEN, AMONG

USAGES

• Above - higher than sth - The picture hangs above my bed.

• Across - from one side to the other side - My house is across the bank.

• Against - directed towards sth - The bird flew against the window.

• Among - in a group - I like being among people.

• Below - lower than sth - Death Valley is 86 metres below sea level.

• Between - sth./sb. is on each side - Our house is between the supermarket and the school.
