  • The definition of a preposition is a word or phrase that connects a noun or pronoun to a verb or adjective in a sentence.

  • An example of prepositions is the word " with " in the following : " I am going with her " .

These prepositions are used to show the movement of something or somebody.

USAGES

  • Above - higher than sth - The picture hangs above my bed.

  • Across - from one side to the other side - My house is across the bank.

  • Against - directed towards sth - The bird flew against the window.

  • Among - in a group - I like being among people.

  • Below - lower than sth - Death Valley is 86 metres below sea level.

  • Between - sth./sb. is on each side - Our house is between the supermarket and the school.
